Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS)
Free for Georgetown students with your GOCard!
GUTS buses connect key locations throughout DC to both the Capitol Campus and the Main Campus. This is the most direct way to get to the Main Campus for classes, events, or student services.
Capitol Campus Stop: 111 Massachusetts Ave NW
Key Routes for MiM Students:
111 Mass ↔ Main Campus (Canal Road Entrance) via the Capitol Campus Shuttle
111 Mass ↔ Union Station Metro Station (Red Line, Amtrak Intercity Rail, MARC, VRE commuter rail, and the DC Streetcar) via the Union Station Loop Shuttle
55 H St ↔ Main Campus (Canal Road Entrance) via the 55 H St Weekend Shuttle
55 H St ↔ Gallery Place Metro Station (Red, Green, and Yellow Line) via the Gallery Place Loop Shuttle
Schedule & Tips:
GUTS buses typically run every 15–30 minutes on weekdays (except for the 55 H St Shuttle, which operates on weekends).
All shuttles travel the same routes and follow the same schedule year round, excluding holidays.
Schedules and live tracking are available through the TransLoc app or transportation.georgetown.edu.
Metro & Metrobus (WMATA)
Efficient public transit across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
DC’s Metro system is made up of Metrorail (subway) and Metrobus services. Both are reliable options for commuting, visiting museums, or exploring different neighborhoods.
Metrorail
Closest Stations to 111 Mass on Capitol Campus:
Judiciary Square (Red Line) – 9 min walk
Union Station (Red Line + Amtrak/VRE) – 9 min walk
Use your SmarTrip Card (physical or mobile) to tap in and out of stations.
Fares vary by distance and time of day.
Metrobus
Numerous bus lines stop near the Law Center and provide service throughout the city. A great option for short or mid-distance travel where Metrorail doesn’t reach directly.
Tips:
- Download the WMATA app or use Google Maps to plan your route and see live arrivals.
- SmarTrip Cards are available for purchase at metro stations or can be added to Apple/Google Wallet.
Hoya Transit Program
The Hoya Transit program will provide a monthly credit, rather than a one time deposit each semester to up to 3,200 students for each of the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters, to access the Washington, DC, region via transit within the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) system and select regional transit partners. Full-time undergraduate, graduate and professional students from all campuses may apply for the program.
The $50 monthly credit will be applied to a SmarTrip account (new window), to be used toward the standard pay-as-you-go transit. Any unused funds will expire at the end of each month, but students will receive a refresh on the 1st each month. All funds need to be claimed by tapping your transit card at a WMATA terminal by the 15th of each month.
Students who are interested in participating in this program for the Fall 2026 semester should monitor the Georgetown Office of Transportation page for new updates and frequently asked questions. If you still have questions, you can email them at hoyatransit@georgetown.edu.
